Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

TeAvon, referred to here as the Service, is operated by Spendlitics LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company with its registered address at 1209 Mountain Road Pl NE #6183, Albuquerque, NM 87110, United States. We refer to ourselves here as we or us. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

TeAvon is a subscription-based recipe management application that lets users save, translate, organize, and share recipes within households. The Service ingests content from third-party sources such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and public recipe websites, and uses artificial intelligence to extract, translate, and structure recipe information into the user's preferred language.

3. Accounts and Households

You must sign in with a valid Google account to use the Service. Each user may belong to one household at a time. Household owners are responsible for managing membership. The base household plan supports up to 3 members; additional members can be added for a per-seat fee as described on the Billing page.

If you leave a household (voluntarily or otherwise), recipes you personally created remain available to you and can be carried into a new household you create or join. See our Privacy Policy for data retention details.

4. Subscription, Billing, and Cancellation

The Service offers a 7-day free trial that does not require a payment method. After the trial period, your account becomes locked rather than charged: you must choose to subscribe, redeem a valid beta access code, or stop using the Service. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. Billing periods are monthly or annual. Billing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.

When your trial ends or your subscription becomes inactive, we lock your account. We do not delete your data. Recipes, household membership, and account settings are preserved. Resuming a subscription or redeeming a beta access code restores access. You may also export your data or delete your account at any time from a locked account. Those rights are not gated by payment.

You can cancel anytime from the Billing section of your Settings page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Your household keeps access until then. We do not issue refunds for partial or unused periods. See our Refund Policy for full details, including the limited exception cases.

If a payment fails, your subscription enters a 3-day grace period. If the payment is not resolved within that window, the subscription is canceled and access is restricted.

We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days notice. Price changes take effect on your next billing period. You can cancel before the change takes effect if you do not agree to the new price.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of the recipes, notes, and other content you create. By using the Service, you grant us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive license to store, process, translate, and display your content solely to provide the Service to you and the members of your household.

Recipes imported from third-party sources remain the intellectual property of their original creators. TeAvon preserves attribution wherever possible. You are responsible for ensuring your use of imported content complies with applicable copyright law.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Service. This includes attempting to access other users' data, reverse-engineering the Service, circumventing our access controls, scraping or bulk-exporting data outside normal use, or using the Service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Third-Party Services

The Service integrates with third-party services. These include Google for authentication and translation, Apify for content scraping, Anthropic for AI recipe structuring and translation, OpenAI for voice transcription, Amazon Web Services for hosting and storage, MongoDB Atlas for the database, Resend for email, and Stripe for payments. Your use of the Service is also subject to those providers' terms and privacy policies where relevant.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. AI-generated recipe content may contain errors, omissions, or mistranslations. Always use your own judgment when following recipes, especially regarding food safety, allergens, dietary restrictions, and cooking temperatures. We are not liable for any adverse outcome resulting from following AI-extracted recipe content.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spendlitics LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of either the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD $50.

10. Termination, Deletion, and Data Retention

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Deletion is staged: your account is marked for deletion immediately, and signing back in within the following 30 days fully restores it. After 30 days we permanently process the deletion. You may also request immediate erasure that skips the 30-day window at any time during that period. We honour such requests under GDPR Article 17.

What “permanent deletion” means here. Recipes in TeAvon belong to the household, not to the individual member who added them. When we process your account deletion:

  • If you were the sole member of your household, that household and the recipes in it are deleted along with your account.
  • If your household has other members, the recipes you added stay with the household. Your name is removed from those records and they appear as “Added by a previous member”. Recipes you shared with connected households likewise stay where you sent them, with your attribution removed.
  • Your personal records are deleted. This covers preferences, beta-code redemptions, feedback you submitted, and pending invites you sent or received.

When we permanently delete your account, we retain a one-way hash of your normalised email address for 90 days as an anti-abuse record. We do not store your email in plaintext after deletion. This record prevents the same address from creating a fresh free trial repeatedly during the window, and applies both to direct sign-up and to acceptance of household invitations. After 90 days the record is no longer enforced. You may also contact support to have the record removed earlier if you wish to return to the Service. The legal basis for this limited retention is our legitimate interest in preventing abuse, under GDPR Article 17(1)(c) and equivalent provisions.

The 90-day record is only written when you explicitly request account deletion. Leaving a household, cancelling a subscription, or reaching the end of your trial does not tombstone your email. Those actions leave your account intact and you can return freely.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service for violation of these terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Certain provisions survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we'll notify users by email or in-app notification at least 15 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
